Medical Records Building, Armagh

health

mha were appointed by the Southern Health & Social Care Trust to provide an extension to St. Luke’s hospital which would house the hospital’s medical records.

This utilitarian building used a simplistic rectangular plan form to incorporate the office accommodation and maximise storage space. Given the high fire risks associated with the storage of such a large quantity of flammable and sensitive material, extensive consultation was carried out with specialist fire engineers and Building Control. To address these concerns a pressurised fire and smoke system was installed in the scheme which would protect the contents and quickly and effectively extinguish any unwanted ignitions.
