Bannside Pharmacy, Portglenone

mha were commissioned to enlarge and refurbish an existing pharmacy in 1999. The extension was achieved by incorporating and integrating an existing, adjacent vacant building.

In 2000 this pharmacy’s design was recognised as a winning proposal in the UK wide “Fit Out for the Millennium” C+D awards sponsored by the prestigious online trade magazine, Chemist and Druggist.

The judges noted that the scheme had “….a combination of traditional and modern, with a hint of the unexpected” with “traditional slate and oak flooring, old-style bricks and wooden shelving are matched with contemporary Mediterranean colours” and “big picture windows bring the world outside into the shop, while discreet blue fluorescent lighting makes the shop shine out on to the high street.”
